The New Balance 1000 made its debut way back in 1998. After sitting on the sidelines for a cool minute, it finally returned to the limelight when this pair was spotted at Paris Fashion Week. Combining heritage with contemporary street style, the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1000 celebrates New Balance’s legacy and Joe Freshgoods’ modern aesthetic. Offered in your choice of Black Ice or Pink Mink, the first pair is given a stylish dark color scheme, design details we are able to point out include the uniquely designed sole unit made up of Gum, Tan and Purple accents, while the upper appears to be made out of a mix of materials that include a Black honeycomb mesh pattern, iridescent-like overlays, Black midsoles, leather overlays and JFG on the toe and heels. The second pair is covered in soft Pink tones that is then accentuated by matte metallic overlays. This review is based on trying them on once.

I really like this shoe. It's very comfortable for an "old school sneaker", It has a removable insole with surprisingly good arch support and more cushioning then you'll find in a typical canvas sneaker. They're also very soft and won't rub your ankles raw. Unfortunately, I can't justify keeping them, but I find it difficult sending them back, because I like them so much (i.e. only so much closet room for shoes.)

The sizing is very accurate. They may run a little on the large side, but that's what I'd want, so I could wear them with heavy socks in Winter months. So, I disagree with those who suggest sizing up or down, because they're actually quite accurate (they're definitely not too small and I don't think they're even close to being too large, either.) The Teva brand used to run all over the place with sizing, but the last few pair I've owned and have been really consistent and accurate.

I didn't try them on a bike, but I suspect that they're very good bike riding shoes, because the soles are quite firm. In fact, I would have liked them better if the sole wasn't so firm, but I expected them to be firm as bike riding shoes. Overall, I think they're very nice sneakers, but I'm looking for something a little more fashion oriented.

Shoes look and feel great. I'm very happy with them, though I've already scuffed them up a bit from overuse - that should tell you how often I've been using them! I really enjoy these and I'm glad I got them for the summer. Looking forward to getting them clean and bright for much more use. Thank you very much!

A very nice looking shoes. The color is very bright and attractive. The medium size is a bit tight across the instep. It was still a great price for a pair of Mephisto shoes.

The shoes are sturdy and comfortable. Also, It adds about 1 inch to your height, could be a negative for some. I'm so used to the thin soul type of shoes that I couldn't feel the gas/break pedals with this new pair.

My grandson loves these shoes! He works in the kitchen and they have to wear slip resistant and oil resistant shoes. Since he is on his feet all day and is flat-footed - these work really well for him.
